New Delhi: Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, said that the nation has undergone significant technological advancement over the past eight years and is transitioning from being a technology consumer to a producer of technology.
Speaking at the Start-Up initiative National Conclave in New Delhi, Mr. Vaishnaw claimed that there are 7 to 8 thousand start-ups in the defence sector offering technology solutions at a significantly lower cost. The second-largest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world, he said, is now located in our nation.
Manufacturing, he claimed, is growing quickly and is reaching a new level in every industry, including those in the automotive, defence, power, electronics, fertiliser, and pharmaceutical sectors. The Union Minister added that the direct employment in electronics manufacturing has increased to a level of 25 to 30 lakh, which was previously insignificant before eight to nine years.
