New Delhi: The list of 301 movies that are eligible for the 95th Academy Awards was released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Monday. Kantara, a movie produced by Hombale Films and starring actor-director Rishab Shetty, is up for nomination by Oscar voters.
The movies that have been added are RRR by SS Rajamouli, Gangubai Kathiawadi by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, The Kashmir Files by Vivek Agnihotri, and Kantara by Rishab Shetty. The list also contains the official Oscar entry for India, Pan Nalin’s Chhello Show (Last Film Show), as well as the Marathi films Me Vasantrao, Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Iravin Nizhal, and Vikrant Rona. The Elephant Whisperers by Kartiki Gonsalves and Shaunak Sen’s documentary All That Breathes are also on the list.
The well-known RRR song “Naatu Naatu” is the first Indian song to make the Academy Award shortlist. while awaiting the Oscar nominations. The movie is also up for Best Non-English Film and Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu at the Golden Globes.
