New Delhi: India has requested that Pakistan take immediate action to swiftly prosecute those responsible for the persecution of minority populations there. Vandalism and degradation of places of religious worship belonging to minority communities in Pakistan have reportedly occurred.

The Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan, stated that India has brought up all of these instances with Pakistan and urged it to take action to safeguard the safety, security, and well-being of its minority communities and sites of worship.

He added that New Delhi had since 2014 successfully negotiated the release and return of more than 2,700 Indian inmates held in Pakistani custody. The nation has also requested early consular access, the release of, and the repatriation of the final Indian detained in Pakistan. According to Mr. Muraleedharan, the government gives the problem of Indian prisoners imprisoned in Pakistan custody high priority and offers the fishermen every assistance available in an effort to secure their quick release.
