Johnson & Johnson has withdrawn its application seeking speedy approval of its COVID-19 vaccine, drugs regulator Drugs Controller General of India informed on Monday. It is yet to be clear the reason for the withdrawal of the application.

The firm has informed that they are withdrawing their proposal, DCGI stated.

Earlier, it was reported that obstacles in importing the doses was delaying the availability of Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J) vaccine against COVID-19 to be available in India.

On behalf of Association of Private Healthcare Providers (APHI), a third party (a private company) in India had applied to the Indian drug regulator for permission to import the shots, and discussions are ongoing.

So far, four vaccines have been given Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) in India – AstraZeneca’s Covishield, Covaxin, Sputnik V and Moderna.
