New Delhi: Several government hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir across 20 districts have been given 265 Diplomate of National Board postgraduate medical seats thanks to the active assistance of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, or NBEMS. Together with NBEMS, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare took the initiative to see to it that a number of postgraduate seats at NBEMS were awarded to various government hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir.
Phase I of the development plan now contains more than 250 Post Graduate seats spread over 20 districts, according to the Ministry. It stated that two additional PG seats would be offered in the second phase. In order to give local doctors who are currently in practise the option for postgraduate training, 50% of the PG seats are also designated for them.
The Ministry emphasised that this crucial step will not only ensure that the residents of Jammu and Kashmir benefit, but that the state’s doctors will also have the chance to receive medical training there.
