India’s Act East Policy will continue to support ASEAN unity and centrality, according to External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar. He stated that the Act East Policy, which was unveiled at the 9th East Asia Summit, has been implemented for ten years during the 14th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers Meeting in Vientiane today. The Minister stated that India will work to strengthen the East Asia Summit process once it concludes its 20-year journey next year. According to him, India is grateful for the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific AOIP’s convergence with the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI) and continues to be a staunch supporter of it.
India invites more participants of the East Asia Summit to join IPOI, according to Dr. Jaishankar. According to him, India has continuously made contributions to the East Asia Summit Plan of Action, which was evident at the Mumbai-hosted East Asia Summit Conference on Maritime Security and Cooperation.
“Nalanda University is a realization of an important commitment to the East Asia Summit,” stated the Minister of External Affairs. India appreciates ASEAN members’ involvement in the Voice of the Global South Summit, he stated. Dr. Jaishankar stated that the Indo-Pacific region’s peace, stability, prosperity, and development depend on the Sea Lines of Communication (SLOC) that cross the South China Sea.
