Mumbai: In Mumbai, members of the G20’s Development Working Group are debating how to advance the sustainable development goals more quickly. Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra’s video address introduced the meeting. Discussions will centre on suggested high-level principles as well as the immediate effects of recent shocks in the food, energy, and financial markets on development.
India will put an emphasis on lowering poverty, developing locally, inclusively, and sustainably, and facilitating access to capital and technology. The development working group’s meeting will be centred on Coordinating with the G20 Finance track for effective solutions, Improving the Resilience of Least Developed Countries & Small Island Developing States, and Role of International Financial Institutions & Multilateral Development Bank.
At Girgaum Chowpatty, Dhol-Tasha and troupes performing traditional Maharashtrian dances greeted the delegates. Many delegates can’t help but dance along with these folk musicians. Later, the G20 guests received a traditional Marathi greeting with feta at the location of the cultural programme (turban).
