New Delhi: The Commission for Air Quality Management has issued closure orders to 491 gross defaulters who were disobeying the law in the NCR and Adjoining Areas, stepping up its efforts to combat air pollution. After assessing more than 8,580 sites in the area, the Commission issued the directives. 52 units in Rajasthan, 211 in Uttar Pradesh, and 118 in Haryana are among the units that have received closure instructions.
The Commission will use every effort to ensure that its legislative directives and orders are strictly enforced, according to a statement from the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. It declared that infractions of its orders involving air pollution control laws and non-compliance with them are taken extremely seriously. In cases of flagrant infringement, the Commission may issue closure orders in addition to environmental compensation and criminal charges.
The Delhi Pollution Control Committee and other State implementing organisations have received advice from AQM to ensure strict adherence to the directives it has issued. In order to intensify inspections, oversee, and closely monitor enforcement and compliance with statutory instructions given by the Commission to improve the air quality of Delhi and the NCR, it has established 40 inspection teams and flying squads.
