New Delhi: From October 1 to October 31, a month-long statewide Clean India 2.0 initiative will be launched by the Department of Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Through the network of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), connected Youth Clubs, and National Service Scheme Affiliated Institutions, the programme is being organised in all of the villages around the nation.
Sanjay Kumar, the secretary for youth affairs, told reporters in New Delhi , that Anurag Singh Thakur, the union minister for youth affairs and sports, will introduce Clean India 2.0 on October 1 with the goal of removing garbage, particularly single-use plastic, and raising awareness. The Secretary added that following the success of the Clean India campaign from the previous year, 1 crore kg of rubbish (plastic, e-waste, and other waste) will be gathered and disposed of this year with the help and voluntary involvement of the general public. Tourist attractions, educational institutions, bus/railway stations and the surrounding area, national roads, historical and heritage structures, religious locations and the surrounding area, hospitals, and water resources will all be hotspots for garbage collection.
The program’s goals include organising household and public cleaning projects throughout all of the nation’s districts from October 1 to October 31, 2022, involving all facets of society, government organisations, including PRIs, and non-governmental organizations/civil society organisations to raise awareness of the importance of keeping one’s surroundings tidy and free of trash among local residents.
