The 18th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) is making its citywide debut for the first time. Parallel screenings will also be held in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Pune in addition to Mumbai. The main event takes place at the National Film Development Corporation – Films Division headquarters on Pedder Road in Mumbai and begins on June 15 and ends on June 21, 2024. From June 16 to June 20, a parallel lineup of films will be played at Siri Fort Auditoriums 1, 2, and 3 for those who enjoy movies. The renowned Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) in Kolkata will hold screenings, and the NFDC’s Tagore Film Centre in Chennai will host screenings. Furthermore, screenings at the National Archives of India premises will occur in Pune. Attendee registrations can be completed in person at each venue’s registration counter; seating is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
In order to guarantee that everyone who enjoys movies can attend the MIFF, the NFDC has teamed up with Svayam, a nonprofit. In accordance with industry best practices, Svayam has carried out thorough accessibility assessments of the festival locations and is offering customized solutions to improve accessibility. The entire festival staff will receive training and sensitization to promote an inclusive and empathetic atmosphere for the first time. MIFF will feature accessible films with closed captions for the hearing impaired, Indian Sign Language, and audio descriptions for those with visual impairments, according to Festival Director Prithul Kumar. In addition, there will be live Indian Sign Language dancing in the movie “Cross Over.”
