The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) noted that over the previous two years, there has been a marked increase in the number of unemployed individuals in Afghanistan. A survey claimed that 34 million Afghans live in poverty and that nearly 20 million people, or 44 percent of the country’s population, lack access to enough food.

The report said, “Unemployment has harmed the lives of millions of people in Afghanistan in addition to other humanitarian crises.” The most affected are those who have disabilities. The international community and development agencies were urged by the ICRC to begin investing in Afghanistan.
