Malayalam rapper Hirandas Murali, known as Vedan, is currently facing serious legal trouble following a rape complaint filed by a young doctor. The case, registered by Thrikkakara police in Kochi, alleges that Vedan sexually exploited the complainant multiple times between 2021 and 2023 under false promises of marriage. The incidents reportedly took place at various locations including Kozhikode and Kochi. The complainant further stated that Vedan used drugs during some of the assaults.

Due to concerns that Vedan might flee abroad to evade arrest, the police have issued a lookout notice at airports and border checkpoints to prevent him from leaving the country. Despite police efforts, Vedan remains in hiding, and multiple music shows involving him have been canceled. His anticipatory bail application is scheduled for hearing on August 18, 2025. The police are intensifying their investigation, including questioning witnesses and gathering related financial transaction records.

Vedan’s defense claims the relationship was consensual and that the complaint arose from a personal fallout, denying the allegations. Meanwhile, the complainant is reportedly under emotional distress and has faced threats, prompting plans to seek police protection.
