Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the minister of tourism and culture, has praised the government’s initiatives to preserve the nation’s legacy and culture via capacity building and global collaboration.

Speaking to the media in New Delhi today, Mr. Shekhawat stated that one instance demonstrating India’s increased capability as a result of its G20 leadership is the World Heritage Committee meeting, which is coming to an end today in the nation. The administration is working to add as many Indian landmarks as possible to the historic list, Mr. Shekhwat further stated. He continued by saying that thirteen locations had been added to the heritage list in the past ten years.

Emphasizing that the World Heritage Committee meeting was held in the nation for the first time, Mr. Shekhawat mentioned that the burial grounds established by the Moidams in the Charaideo district of Assam, which are part of the Tai Ahom dynasty that ruled the area from the sixth to the twelfth centuries, have been inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites. 53 additional locations from India have been included to the preliminary list, he continued.
