At a Hindi Samvad ceremony hosted by the Indian Embassy in Nepal, Dr. Usha Thakur received the 12th Vishwa Hindi Samman in recognition of her contributions to the advancement of Hindi literature. She has improved Hindi language proficiency and translated over 40 works of literature from Nepali and Hindi. The Indian government’s Ministry of External Affairs bestows this honor.

The 12th World Hindi Conference took place in 2023 in Fiji. Dr. Thakur received the award at a function held at Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu because she was unable to attend the event in Fiji. She emphasized that both visitors and residents of Nepal frequently communicate in Hindi.
