India has set a world record with 64.2 crore voters casting ballots in the Lok Sabha Elections, according to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. Speaking to the media in New Delhi, Mr. Kumar stated that the cumulative number of votes in the G7 countries (the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Canada) is 1.5 times more. The biggest number of female voters in history, 31.2 crore, participated in the Lok Sabha elections, according to him. He added that, in contrast to the 540 reruns in the 2019 general election, just 39 reruns were held in this race. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Kumar stated that 1.5 crore poll workers and over 68 thousand monitoring teams participated in the election process.
There were no significant violent incidents during 2018 Lok Sabha election, according to the Chief Election Commissioner. In contrast to 3,500 crore rupees in 2019, he claimed that seizures of 10,000 crore rupees had been reported, including cash, freebies, narcotics, and alcohol. During this year’s General Elections, Mr. Kumar stated that more than 90% of the 495 complaints regarding infractions of the Model Code of Conduct were resolved.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that the counting centers had three layers of protection provided by the Central Armed Police Forces, highlighting the specifics of a rigorous counting process. He declared that each counting table will have micro observers on it in addition to 24-hour CCTV observation at the counting centers.
