Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed the first installment to one lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN). He also spoke with PM-JANMAN beneficiaries during the event. Complying with Mr. Modi’s endeavours towards the Antyodaya vision of empowering the last person at the last mile, the PM-JANMAN was introduced in November of last year for the socio-economic well-being of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
With an approximate budget of 24,000 crore rupees, the PM-JANMAN works with nine Ministries to implement eleven vital interventions. The objective is to enhance the socio-economic circumstances of the PVTGs by providing all PVTG households and habitations with essential amenities such as secure housing, potable water, enhanced access to healthcare, education, and nutrition, electricity, road and telecommunication connectivity, and viable livelihood options.
