Goa: 53rd IFFI (International Film Festival of India) will get started in Goa, . The opening ceremony will take place close to Panaji at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium. The nine-day festival will feature 280 films from 79 different nations. While 183 films will be included in the international programming, 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films will be shown as part of the Indian Panorama segment.
Spanish director Carlos Saura will receive the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural ceremony. France is the “Spotlight” nation, and 8 movies are part of the Country Focus package. Alma and Oskar, directed by Dieter Berner of Austria, will inaugurate one of Asia’s oldest film festivals. PS Sreedharan, the governor of Goa, Pramod Sawant, the chief minister, Anurag Singh Thakur, the minister of state for information and broadcasting, and L Murugan will all speak at the event. Leading actors from all throughout the nation’s film industry will perform in cultural performances during the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, there will also be performances by music and dance groups from India and overseas. In keeping with the spirit of the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrations, the topic of the Opening Ceremony is “Evolution of Indian Cinema in the Last 100 Years.”
