Kyiv: On Sunday, the Ukrainian actor Pasha Lee of Korean descent, lost his life while fighting against Russian forces in order to protect his country. As per the TSN television news service and the Odesa International Film Festival, the actor was just 33 years old.
Lee was killed in Irpin, as shelling went on in the suburbs of Kyiv. Before Russia’s invasion less than two weeks ago, Lee worked as an actor, singer, TV host and composer. The Odesa International Film Festival (OIFF) celebrated his legacy by listing his acting roles in various films such as “Shadows of Unforgotten Ancestors,” “The Fight Rules” and “Meeting of Classmates,” among others. Lee was also known for his voice work, most notably in the Ukrainian dubbings of “The Hobbit” film series and the 2019 live-action remake of “The Lion King.”
Pasha Lee was well known for his work in films including Meeting Of Classmates, sports drama The Fight Rules, Selfie Party, etc.
The actor had joined the Territorial Defence Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces last week in order to defend his country from the ongoing war. On Saturday, the actor had shared pictures on Instagram and wrote, “For the last 48 hours there is an opportunity to sit down and take a picture of how we are being bombed, and we are smiling because we will manage and everything will be UKRAINE WE ARE WORKING !!!”.
His fans are heartbroken after hearing this news. They have been sharing his pictures on social media with emotional captions.
Ukrainian actor Anastasiya Kasilova, who co-starred with Lee in the TV show “Provincial,” wrote on Facebook that Lee “is an actor, TV presenter, my colleague and a good acquaintance… Never forgive!”
Ivana Chubbuck, an American acting coach who worked with Lee during her last workshop in Ukraine, and Vlad Davidzon, the founding editor of Ukrainian magazine The Odessa Review, also posted about Lee.
