Three programmes costing more than Rs 8000 crore are announced by the Centre for disaster management in the nation.

New Delhi: Amit Shah the minister of the interior has said that the federal government will give the states more than 8,000 crore rupees to help them mitigate landslides, boost fire brigade services, and cope with urban flooding.

In order to improve the ecosystem for disaster management in the nation, Amit Shah presided over a conference in New Delhi with the ministers of disaster management from the States and Union Territories. According to the home minister, 2,500 billion rupees would be given to states to lessen the risk of urban floods in the seven most populous metropolises of Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad, and 5,000 billion rupees will be given to states to develop and modernise fire services. He continued by saying that 17 states and union territories would receive 825 crore rupees for the purpose of reducing landslides.

The Home Minister stated that efforts must be taken to preserve every single life from disasters because disasters have changed in both shape and frequency. In the past nine years, he claimed, the government has placed a strong emphasis on new methods for developing early warning systems, prevention, mitigation, and preparedness-based disaster management.
