The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft was successfully manoeuvred into a new orbit decrease today by the Indian Space Research Organisation, bringing it closer to the Moon’s surface. ISRO announced on social media that the following manoeuvre is scheduled for Wednesday, August 16.
On the 14th of last month, Chandrayaan-3 was launched, and on the 5th of August, it reached lunar orbit. The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft has been performing orbital manoeuvres ever since it entered lunar orbit.
The lander and rover will separate from the propulsion module after additional moon-bound manoeuvres up until August 17th. After that, the lander will undergo de-orbiting procedures before making the final descent to the moon. On August 23, ISRO plans to make an attempt at a soft landing on the moon’s surface. India will join the US, Russia, and China as the fourth nation in the world to accomplish this accomplishment with this successful landing on the lunar surface.
