The Minister shared his worries about the need to assess the worst-case flood scenario associated with these two dams in Kerala with the ISRO experts.

According to the press release, ISRO Chairman S Somanath also promised to provide the minister with space-based inputs relating to high-resolution topography data so that researchers may model floods and determine prospective flood risks in order to estimate the likelihood of inundation. A prototype solution that integrates flood risk with rescue and rehabilitation planning and satellite communication capabilities was also disclosed to the minister by S. Somanath. He gave the minister an update on the potential use of space-based assistance in disaster relief.
