New Delhi: To increase the financial sustainability of Fair Price Shops across the nation, States and Union Territories will look into new revenue sources. Sanjeev Chopra, the secretary of the Department of Food and Public Distribution, made this statement while speaking with state and territorial food secretaries at a meeting in New Delhi. He added that by 2023–2024, the Center hopes to fully distribute fortified rice in all government programmes.

The ecosystem is completely prepared to meet the goal, and States and UTs have been requested to improve their systems to ensure that fortified rice is purchased, supplied, and distributed within the allotted time frame. He was appreciative of the efforts made by States to provide migrants with food grains under the One Nation One Ration Card programme.

Since the scheme’s commencement, more than 91 crore portability transactions have been registered. Important topics related to various schemes were thoroughly covered during the conference.
