Rahul Gandhi the Congress leader resigns from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader and an elected member of the Lok Sabha representing Kerala’s Wayanad Parliamentary Constituency, has resigned from the legislature. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has accepted Mr. Gandhi’s resignation today.

According to remarks made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge yesterday, Rahul Gandhi will retain his seat in Raebareli and resign from the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. Speaking with media in New Delhi, Mr. Kharge declared that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would contest from Kerala’s Wayanad Lok Sabha. According to Mr. Kharge, the party has determined that Rahul Gandhi ought to hold onto Rae Bareli’s seat because it is near to the family.
