The results of 59 seats in Uttar Pradesh have been announced. Samajwadi Party won 25 seats, Congress won 6, and the BJP won 25. One seat each has been won by Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Apna Dal (Soneylal) (ADAL), and Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) (ASPKR).
Ajay Rai of the Congress was defeated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi by a margin of more than one lakh fifty thousand vote. Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, defeated Dinesh Pratap Singh, the BJP opponent, with a margin of more than 3 lakh 90 thousand votes to be declared the winner of the Rae Bareli seat.
Arun Govil from Meerut, Hema Malini from Mathura, Jitin Prasad from Pilibhit, Swami Sachchidanand Hari Sakshi from Unnao, Dr. Mahesh Sharma from Gautam Buddha Nagar, Rajnath Singh from Lucknow, and Ravi Kishan from Gorakhpur are the other notable BJP winners. In Amethi, Kishori Lal of the Congress defeated Smriti Irani of the BJP, and in Kheri, Ajay Kumar of the BJP lost to Utkarsh Verma “Madhur” of the Samajwadi Party. In the Sultanpur constituency, Samajwadi Party candidate Rambhual Nishad defeated BJP candidate Menka Gandhi by a margin of more than 43,000 votes.
