President Droupadi Murmu will visit Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste. Secretary (East) Jaideep Mazumdar told the reporters in Delhi yesterday that this will be the first time the Indian President has ever visited Timor Leste and Fiji. He stated that South East Asia and the Pacific have been India’s special emphasis ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his Act East Policy. He stated that the Act East Policy applies to all three of these nations.

President Murmu’s first stop on the tour is scheduled to take place in Fiji on August 5–7. India has maintained diplomatic ties with Fiji for 75 years, according to the Secretary (East). President Murmu will meet one-on-one with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and President Katonivere of Fiji during his visit. There are plans for President Murmu to speak to the Fijian Parliament and engage with the country’s Indian diaspora. India has been Fiji’s dependable development partner.
