Iran: In response to violations of human rights in Iran, the foreign ministers of the European Union have slapped a fresh round of sanctions against people and organisations. In reaction to Tehran’s alleged transfer of drones to Russia, they also banned eight drone manufacturers and air force officers.

Josep Borrell, the head of foreign policy for the EU, stated yesterday that the Union is going after individuals in charge of the ongoing suppression of protestors.

In a statement, the EU ministers claimed that Russia was employing these Iranian-supplied weapons indiscriminately on the infrastructure and civilian population of Ukraine, causing terrible damage and suffering to people.

Media sources claim that a hardline preacher and senior Iranian security officers were targets of EU sanctions. The new sanctions also targeted the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), its director, and a news presenter for airing prisoners’ coerced confessions.
