Kottayam Tattoo Artist Arrested with Hashish Oil Worth 7.7 Crore

Bengaluru: The Southeast Division police of Hulimavu police on Monday busted an inter-state drug racket and arrested three persons including a woman tattoo artiste, and recovered 12.9 kgs of Hashish oil worth Rs 7.7 crore from them.

The accused has been identified as, Vikram Magesh Kumar,23, Sijil Verghese, 23, of Kottayam, and Vishnupriya, 22, of Coimbatore. Sijil and Vishnupriya, who studied BBA in a Coimbatore college, were living together. They worked as freelance tattoo artists.

A senior officer told media persons that the Hulimavu police station inspector received information that in BTM layout 4th stage some person is suspected of selling Oil drugs.

Based on the tip-off, a team headed by P I, Chandrakanth L T, swung into action, rushed to the spot and kept a close watch on the suspects. After getting confirmation the Inspector raided a car parking area situated in BTM layout 4th stage and arrested Vikram Magesh Kumar, 23, a Habitual offender while trying to sell Hashish oil to his customers.

During interrogation, the accused spilt the beans and the police raided a rented house in Kuvenpu layout in Kothanur and arrested Sijil Verghese and his female friend Vishnupriya.

Sijil and Vishnupriya had sourced the drugs from their contacts in Vishakapatnam and smuggled them into the city to sell them to the local peddlers.

Considering the magnitude of the seizure, the police suspect that the duo was part of the bigger drug network and further investigations are on. This is the first-ever biggest drug haul of hashish oil by the Bengaluru City Police.
