New Delhi: Keeping safety as its first concern, Indian Railways will today kick off a month-long massive safety campaign. In order to close any maintenance gaps for fixed assets, locomotives, and rolling stock and to improve rail safety, the Ministry of Railways has ordered Zonal Railways to start the safety drive. It will be guaranteed that current protocols are followed and that human factors are being monitored during the drive.

All Zonal Railways must follow instructions from the Railway Board to ensure that officers in Headquarters and Divisions conduct thorough inspections and that any faults are corrected. It said that each Division’s Headquarter official had to be on inspection every day of the trip. Additionally, an officer must conduct a nighttime foot plate inspection of each division’s key sections.

The Ministry stated that the Railway Board’s instructions for this massive safety drive include routine surveillance of all tracks, which should be observed on a daily basis, as well as surprise station checks to make sure proper operational procedures are being followed.
