Dr. S. Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs, arrived in Astana, Kazakhstan. At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit on Thursday, he will lead the Indian delegation and represent Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Upon Dr. Jaishankar’s arrival, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev greeted him.
Today, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, was received by the External Affairs Minister. For hosting the SCO Council of Heads of State Summit and making the arrangements, Dr. Jaishankar expressed his gratitude. They talked on India’s growing engagement in Central Asia and the growing Strategic Partnership in a variety of settings. On regional and international problems, they also shared opinions.
The leaders of the SCO are anticipated to assess the organization’s 20 years of operations and talk about the current and future prospects of multilateral cooperation during the summit. There are also plans to tackle timely issues of regional and global significance during the summit.
The Prime Minister’s vision of a “SECURE” SCO shapes India’s goals within the organization. Security, connectivity, economic cooperation, unity, respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, and environmental protection are the acronyms for SECURE. On July 4, 2018, India, serving as the SCO’s first-ever president, held the virtual 23rd Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State.
