Deepika Padukone seeks equal pay as Ranveer Singh for Sanjay Leela Bhansali film

Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone is reportedly out of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Baiju Bawra over the inability of the makers to offer her equal amount as remuneration as the film’s hero, her husband and actor Ranveer Singh.

According to Bollywood Hangama, a source said the actor wanted the same remuneration as Singh. “Not a penny more, not a penny less,” the online news portal quoted a source as saying. However, her demand was turned down.

Deepika Padukone has been paired opposite to Singh in three movies—Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat.

“In a way, it works out for the better. Four Ranveer-Deepika films in a row from Sanjay Leela Bhansali would have been excessive, don’t you think?” Bollywood Hangama quoted a source close to Bhansali Productions as saying.

A few weeks ago, Kareena Kapoor Khan had sought ₹12 crore to play the role of Sita in a film.
