New Delhi: To enable access to natural gas at competitive and reasonable prices in remote locations, the Center modified the Natural Gas Tariff, Authorization and Capacity Regulations. Entity level Integrated Natural Gas Pipeline Tariff has been incorporated in the regulations to facilitate the implementation of a unified tariff and will serve as a foundation for an united tariff at the national level.

For the purpose of safeguarding the general interests of consumers across various regions, the number of unified tariff zones has also been extended from two to three. Other adjustments have also been introduced, such as allowing unexplained gas, a moratorium period, and a ramp-up in capacity. According to the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, the changes to three regulations are intended to hasten the construction of the nation’s natural gas infrastructure and launch a period of rapid market expansion.

The implementation of the Unified Tariff regulations, which take effect on April 1st of next year, will be aided by these revisions. In order to handle the settlement concerns related to the implementation of the Unified tariff, the Ministry has also established an industry committee.
