Bengaluru hosts the opening of the G20 Digital Economy Working Group meeting.

Bengaluru: The Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in Bengaluru, Alkesh Kumar Sharma, officially declared the G20 Digital Economy Working Group meeting open. Speaking to the participants, he announced that a 17 page precise and succinct paper on the digital economy, cyber security, digital skilling, and aiding lower and middle-income economies in digital transactions and skilling had been developed following extensive consultations and consensus.

He continued by saying that the fourth meeting, which is now taking place in Bengaluru, will resolve any minor issues and provide the final document for signature during the ministerial meeting. Up till August 19, Bengaluru will host the G20 Working Group and Ministerial Meetings on the Digital Economy. Different topics connected to digital information, service delivery to citizens, and the expansion of the digital economy will be considered during the discussions under the G20 India Presidency. On August 17 and 18, the Digital Innovation Alliance summit will take place concurrently with these events. This is part of an attempt to honour and encourage innovators from the G20 member countries as well as the Guest countries.

A joint statement summarising the consensus on the opportunities and challenges of digital economies will be released following the completion of the Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting. Both tomorrow and the following day, the G20 meetings in Bengaluru will be attended by Union Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav and Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
