Those who do bank transactions in the coming month of October should plan them in advance as banks are to remain closed for more than two-thirds of the month. There could be huge delay in processing as many workers will be availing their leaves as well.
As per the list of holidays issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks in India will remain closed for up to 21 days in October 2021, including second and fourth Saturdays, and Sundays. However, since most of these days are state-specific holidays, banks will not be closed for all 21 days in all the states.
The banks will be closed in the first two days of the month—October 1 being Half Yearly Closing of Bank Accounts and October 2 being Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.
Holidays declared by RBI go under three categories — Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act; Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
