New Delhi: The National Means Cum Merit Scholarship scheme has extended the deadline for applications until this month’s 15th. The scholarships are given to deserving kids from economically disadvantaged areas to prevent them from dropping out of school in eighth grade and to motivate them to continue their studies in secondary school.
According to the Education Ministry, one lakh new scholarships are given to deserving students each year beginning in ninth grade and continuing through twelfth grade for those attending state government, government-aided, and local body schools. Twelve thousand dollars is awarded as a scholarship each year.
The scholarships are paid out straight into the bank accounts of chosen students, and this programme is entirely funded at the federal level. The scholarships are available to students whose total parental income does not exceed three million fifty thousand rupees annually. For the Class 8th examination, pupils must have at least a 55 percent passing grade or equivalent in order to be eligible to take the scholarship selection test.
