New Delhi: The introduction of 10,000 e-buses to improve city bus operations has been approved by the government by PM-eBus Sewa. Anurag Singh Thakur, the information and broadcasting minister, told reporters in New Delhi that 57,613 crore rupees would be spent on the PM-eBus Sewa following the Union Cabinet meeting. Ten thousand new electric buses, he claimed, would be used in 169 cities. According to the census from 2011, the programme will cover cities with a population of three lakh or more, including all the capital cities of the Union Territories, the North Eastern Region, and the Hill States. According to Mr. Thakur, PM-eBus Sewa would advance green mobility.
Through the deployment of 10,000 buses in the city bus service, the plan will create 45–55 thousand direct jobs. Under the Green Urban Mobility Initiatives, the Cities will get assistance with the construction of a charging infrastructure. Utilising electric mobility will lower noise and air pollution while also reducing carbon emissions.
