China: At Foxconn’s Zhengzhou factory in China, there have reportedly been widespread labour protests against the company’s zero Covid policy. On the factory campus, where they have been forced to remain since since a closed-loop system was declared to stop the spread of COVID19 without sacrificing productivity under the Zero Covid policy, labourers and employees at Foxconn’s Zhengzhou facility protested.

Videos of the fighting in Zhengzhou showed police in protective gear battling masked labourers. The violence occurs as Zhengzhou, China, reinforced its COVID-19 security measures once further, making it the only major economy still utilising complete lockdowns to combat virus breakouts. Zhengzhou is home to a flagship iPhone plant.
