New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu received a visit from the Indian Postal Service’s probationary staff today at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President remarked during his remarks that the Department of Posts, with its amazing 160-year history, stands as a beacon of service to the country. According to her, the vast network of its roughly 160,000 Post Offices makes it the largest postal network in the world.

President Murmu praised the Department of Posts’ contribution to financial inclusion. She expressed her joy over the department’s strategic plans to close the funding gap and strengthen underserved communities. She stated that the Department of Posts has been crucial in the distribution of government benefits including welfare and pensions. According to the President, the seamless delivery of cash through post offices has lessened reliance on middlemen and curbed leaks.
