1013 Post Office Export Centers have been established nationwide by the government to encourage exports via the post office network. The Minister of State for Communication and Rural Development, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, made this claim in a written response to the Lok Sabha today. In addition to enabling craftspeople, weavers, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, he claimed that these centers promote cross-border e-commerce. He said that a wide range of goods and items, including imitation jewelry and gemstones, clothing and textiles, leather goods, handicrafts, ayurveda and herbal medicines, and other consumer goods, are shipped through these centers. According to the Minister, there are as many as 93 Post Office Export Centers in Uttar Pradesh, 76 in Karnataka, and 64 in each of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
